Residence Reconstruction, Topanga, CA (1995) Situated
in a neighborhood in Topanga Canyon originally settled by WWI veterans,
this home was a cabin upon which many random add-ons and remodels
were performed over the years. Damage from the 1994 Northridge earthquake
gave the owner the opportunity to improve on past efforts and unify
the elements of the home with each other and with the surrounding
environment.
Nestled
within a grove of Coastal Live Oaks trees, this home continues to
have the look and feel of a hillside cabin. However, the redesigned
and rebuilt home is now filled with natural light, is connected
to expansive exterior decks, and is finished with natural woods
to create an elegant, but warm and comfortable living environment.
